Protect your Investment

Protect your house and landscaping with seamless gutters!

Inspect the outside of your house, and if you see any of the following items, then an investment in gutters today will save you time or money:

  • The mulch is washing out of planter areas.

  • Ground erosion is cracking walls or causing washouts.

  • Mildew is growing on the walls.

  • 2nd story water is falling onto the 1st floor roof (this wears out shingles prematurely).

  • Plants are getting too much water.

  • You can’t walk out your front door because of the waterfall dumping onto the sidewalk.

Raincarrier Systems

Many homebuilders throughout Tampa Bay leave the decision of installing raingutter up to the homeowner. Many homeowners may not realize they need gutters until after they move in. This need is soon apparent when their new landscaping is washing out and the mulch is floating down the driveway. Other problems may take months or even years to become evident.

Our professionally installed seamless gutters are formed out of a gutter machine right on the job. The gutter is made of .027 heavy gauge aluminum with a baked on enamel finish. They are available in a variety of colors. Our handcut miters and downspouts are fastened with rivets (instead of screws) for a nice look and a tight fit. We offer a 2 year warranty on labor and a 20 year manufacturer's warranty on material.

Comparing our Quote with Other Companies

When comparing our quote with other companies, be sure you ask yourself as well as the competing company the following questions about the gutter installation.

  1. Is the quoted gutter footage and the amount of spouts the same? Companies may have different ideas and may have different gutter configurations. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples.

  2. Does the quote include concrete splash blocks under each spout?

  3. Is the company using heavy duty hangers with a built in screw? This is a very important question because the cost of hangers very greatly. For example, a normal 6" light duty hanger is about 23 cents each, a heavy-duty hanger with a built-in screw cost around 75 cents each. We space hangers at approximately 30". Some companies space them as much as 4 feet.

  4. Are the miters single-seam hand cut miters, strip miters or box miters? We hand cut each miter to exact measurements, fasten them with 6 rivets and caulk the inside of the miter using a heavy duty caulk. We like to use rivets instead screws for our miters and downspouts because they sit flat, don't rust and look nicer.

  5. Are the endcaps color matched with the same baked on enamel finish? Ours come from the same factory using the same baked on paint process as the gutter and downspouts. Many companies use white endcaps and paint them on the job site as needed. The site painted endcaps don't look as nice and tend to fade rather quickly.

  6. 6. Who is actually doing the gutter installation? Our estimators are also the installers who will be doing the installation. The Estimator/Installer can go over the job in detail with you and decrease the chance of any miscommunication on the day of installation.

Questions to ask when getting an estimate

  1. How long has your company been in business? We have been in business since 1991.

  2. Are you Licensed? We are licensed in the counties that require them to install gutters. In PascoCounty our license # is SAC-08571 and Pinellas County's is C-5498. Hillsborough and Hernando County currently do not require a license.

  3. Are your installers employees or subcontractors? Al of our Estimator/Installers our company

  4. Are your employees covered by Worker's Compensation? Yes, we can provide a certificate upon request.

  5. Are any of your installers exempt from Worker's Compensation? No. We know exempted employees or subcontractors put too much of a risk on a homeowner. An injured person not covered by insurance may attempt to place a liability claim against a homeowner's insurance policy. Ask your insurance agent fi they would be covered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How long has American Custom Guttering been in business?

A. We have been in business since 1991. Our first 10 years were in Tarpon Springs before moving to Odessa in 2001.

Q. How is your company different from other aluminum companies?

A. Our company was built focusing on taking care of water drainage issues only. Concentrating on this and customer satisfaction have helped make us the largest and most trusted gutter company in TampaBay. We bring our gutter machine to your home and make special sizes on-site. Our gutters are installed using heavy duty hangers instead of spikes and ferrules . We hand cut each miter so there is only one seam instead of multiple seams that are associated with strip or box miters. All of our miters and downspouts are fastened together using aluminum rivets instead of screws because screws tend to catch debris and also eventually rust. We have a 2 year warranty on labor and a 20 year manufacturer’s warranty on material.

Q. Are you required to have a contractor's license to install gutters?

A. It depends on what county you live in. Pasco and Pinellas county require a license. Hillsborough and Hernando county currently do not require a license. Along with checking to see if a prospective contractor has the proper license requirement, make sure they have Worker’s Compensation and Liability Insurance. It is for your own protection.

Q. How can I check to see if a company or person has Worker’s Compensation and Liability Insurance?

A. Call the company you are checking on and ask them to provide you with a Certificate Of Insurance naming you as the certificate holder. You could also check the Florida Department of Financial Services proof of Workers' Compensation database apps8.fldfs.com/proofofcoverage/Search.aspx .

Q. Can a rain barrel be installed to our existing rain gutter system?

A. Yes, we can install your rain barrel or one we have in stock made from food barrels. Our barrels are fitted with a hose bib and a PVC overflow pipe. They are naturally terracotta in color, but can be painted.

Q. Do you have a location open to the public?

A. Yes, we have a 4,000 sq. ft. store located at 14436 Black Lake Road in Odessa. We sell retail gutter supplies at this location.

Q. How can I keep debris and leaves from clogging my gutter system?

A. There are many types of gutter protection products available. We like a system called Shur Flo because it is strong, effective, affordable and can be installed with a new gutter system or to an existing one.

You can avoid many of the common problems that arise between contractors and homeowners if you do some homework before signing a contract. Though most contractors are honest and work hard for their living, the industry's reputation is tainted by the dishonest dealing of a few truly fraudulent operators.
