A lot of Florida homes were originally fitted with a 5" trade profile. On an ordinary day that is fine. In a summer downpour — the kind that drops an inch in twenty minutes — a 5" run backed by a 2×3 spout simply cannot move the water fast enough, and it goes over the front edge.
We fit 6" as standard and pair it with 3×4 downspouts. The extra capacity is not about the average day; it is about the twenty minutes a year that actually cause damage.
The corners
Cut for your corner, not off a shelf.
A strip miter or a box miter is a pre-made corner that gets fitted to whatever angle it meets. We hand-cut each miter to the exact measurement of the corner it is going on, fasten it with five rivets, and caulk the inside with a heavy-duty caulk.
We use rivets rather than screws on the miters and the downspouts because they sit flat against the metal, they do not rust, and they look nicer.
What holds it up
The part of the quote nobody itemises.
The cost of hangers varies greatly. A normal 6" light-duty hanger is about 23 cents each. A heavy-duty hanger with a built-in screw costs around 75 cents each. We use the heavy-duty hanger, and we space them at approximately 30". Some companies space them as much as four feet apart.

About the 6" profile.
Can you match my existing 5" gutter?
We can, but on most Florida homes we would rather talk you through why 6" is worth the change first.
Is seamless really formed at my house?
Yes. The forming machine is on the truck. Each run comes off it cut to the length of your roofline.
How many downspouts will I need?
It depends on run length and roof area, which is what we count at the estimate rather than guessing from the curb.
Can I see the color before you roll it?
Yes — ask at the estimate and we will bring the color options to you.
What if a run is longer than the coil?
Very few residential runs are. Where one is, we will show you where the single joint has to go before we start.
Do you replace fascia if it is rotten?
That is a separate trade and not something we currently promote. We will flag it if we see it.
