Why gutters block here
A blocked gutter is a gutter doing nothing.
When the channel fills with pine needle and leaf litter, water stops running to the downspout and starts going over the front edge instead — straight down the fascia and onto the ground at the base of the wall. That is the exact failure the gutter was installed to prevent.
Tampa Bay is a hard climate for open gutter. Slash pine drops needles most of the year, live oak drops leaf and catkin in spring, and summer storms wash grit off the shingle into the channel.

What we fit
Heavy-duty guards, not thin screen.
We fit heavy-duty leaf guards over the gutter we install, rather than the light screen that gets pushed into the channel by the first real storm. Because the guard and the gutter go on together, the hangers underneath are spaced to carry the load.

Heavy-duty hangers at roughly 30" are already under the run, so the guard has something solid to sit on.

The spout stays clear
Most callouts are a blocked spout throat, not a full channel. Keeping debris out at the top is what prevents it.

With a new gutter run
The guard is specified alongside the gutter, so hanger spacing, pitch and the guard all get planned together. This is the version we recommend and the one most of our work is.

Onto an existing gutter
We will look at what is already up there first. If the run is sound and hung properly, a guard is worth fitting. If it is sagging, joint-leaking sectional, a guard just hides the real problem — we will tell you that rather than sell you one.

Will I still need to clean the gutters?
Less often, and it becomes a check rather than a dig-out. Debris can still rest on top of the guard, particularly under a heavy oak.
Does it handle pine needle?
Pine needle is the hardest thing to keep out anywhere in Tampa Bay, which is exactly why we fit heavy-duty guards rather than a thin screen.
Can you fit guards to gutters you did not install?
Often, yes — but we will look at the existing run first and tell you if a guard is worth it or if the gutter is the real problem.
Does it come with the gutter warranty?
Workmanship is covered for 2 years. Material cover depends on the product — confirm the specifics with us on the estimate.
Will it change how the gutter looks?
From the ground, very little. The guard sits down inside the top of the channel rather than standing proud of it.
Is it worth it on a single-story?
Usually still yes — the reason is less about ladder access and more about the spout staying clear in a storm.
