The gutter collects the water. The downspout is what actually gets rid of it — which is why the size, the strapping and what sits at the bottom all matter.

The standard spout
Fitted on the majority of our jobs and paired with the 6" gutter run. Enough capacity for a typical Tampa Bay roof, and the size with the wider choice of colors.
4×5
The larger spout
More cross-section for long runs, large roof areas, or where a single spout is doing more work than it should. Worth asking about if you have had one overflow.
How it is fixed
Strapped properly, riveted not screwed.
A downspout that is pinned on with a single screw will work loose, and in a storm it will move. We fix ours with heavy-duty straps and use rivets rather than screws — the same reason we use them on the miters. Rivets sit flat against the metal, they do not rust, and they look cleaner from the ground.
At the bottom
A splash block under every single spout.
Water leaving a 3×4 spout during a storm has real force behind it. Landing straight onto soil, it scours a channel, washes out mulch and pavers, and pushes water back toward the foundation — which is the problem the gutters were installed to solve.
Every downspout we install gets a concrete splash block at the base as standard, not as a line item you have to ask for.
Finish
Same coil, same line, same color.
The 3×4 downspouts come off the same factory line and the same baked-on enamel process as the gutter run and the endcaps, so the whole system reads as one color rather than three near-matches. The 4×5 is stocked in low gloss white and bronze — if you want a 4×5 in another color, raise it at the estimate rather than on install day.

About the downspouts.
How many downspouts will my house need?
It comes down to run length and roof area. We count them with you at the estimate rather than quoting a round number.
Can I have 4×5 in a color other than white or bronze?
Those are the two we stock it in. Ask at the estimate and we will tell you what is actually possible.
Where will the downspouts go?
We will walk the elevations with you. There is usually some choice about which corner a spout drops on.
Do you fit splash blocks as standard?
Yes — one under every downspout, included in the quote.
Do you install the splash blocks yourselves?
Yes — fitting them is part of the install, not a separate visit or a line item you have to chase.
Will the spouts match my gutter color?
3×4 comes off the same line as the gutter, so it can be matched. 4×5 is low gloss white or bronze.
