Comparing gutter quotes
Ask both yourself and the competing company the questions on this page. The answers are where the price difference usually lives.

Why the numbers differ
Two companies can quote the same number of linear feet on the same house and be describing genuinely different jobs. The gutter itself is the cheapest part of the install — what changes the price is the hardware holding it up, how the corners are made, and who ends up on the ladder.
None of this is a reason to assume the cheaper quote is bad. It is a reason to make sure you are comparing the same thing. If a competing quote answers all six of these the way ours does and still comes in lower, take it.

Companies may have different ideas and gutter configurations. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples.

This matters because the cost of hangers varies greatly. A normal 6" light-duty hanger is about 23 cents each; a heavy-duty hanger with a built-in screw costs around 75 cents each.

We use the heavy-duty hanger and space them at approximately 30". Some companies space them as much as 4 feet apart.

A strip or box miter is quicker to fit. A hand-cut miter is measured and made for that specific corner.

We hand-cut each miter to exact measurements, fasten them with five rivets, and caulk the inside using a heavy-duty caulk. We prefer rivets over screws because they sit flat, do not rust, and look nicer.

Many companies use white endcaps and paint them on the job site as needed. Site-painted endcaps do not look as good and tend to fade rather quickly.
